Seagulls often float below the pier to mitigate the incoming waves and enjoy the shade, although here and there waves will seep through and they may crest over the birds. I managed to capture a seagull taking flight to avoid the splash, and lifting off above the water. It catches the light in such a way to create this angelic burst of color that makes the piece come together.
