Elephantella

Elephantella flowers, named for their trunk like petals, are found all throughout the Rocky Mountains. As I found myself in fields full of these extraordinary pink and purple tones, I got as low to the ground as I could, surrounding myself in the flowers. I knew an abstract look would better suit the feeling I encountered when I was surrounded by the flowers. Rather than raising my aperture to get everything in focus, choosing a shallower depth of field brought across the almost insect like feeling of being there, in the grass. Keeping the flowers slightly blurred allowed the piece to feel more dreamlike and immersive.
